An Interactive Memory Trail To Raise Dementia Awareness
In commemoration of World Alzheimer’s Month, Dementia Singapore, will be transforming the calming and versatile space of Ngee Ann Kongsi Auditorium Foyer at National Gallery Singapore, to highlight dementia awareness through the lens of the Youth Advocates. They will be bringing to life "memory nooks" along an experiential trail.
-
We connect with the world through our senses – but what happens when they begin to warp, reshaping the familiar into something less recognisable?
Immerse yourself in a sensory experience inspired by the realities of those living with dementia, and explore how memory and perception are deeply intertwined.
-
The bus arrives. The doors swing open. You step in – faces flicker past, voices blur into a haze of sound, making it harder to hear, to ask, to be heard.
In this simulation, a simple bus ride becomes a quiet challenge – not just in finding a seat, but in finding a space for inclusion.
-
When memory fades, it doesn’t always disappear. Sometimes, it returns in fragments, each piece just as meaningful as the whole.
Discover poems that carry cherished stories of persons living with dementia – each one incomplete, inviting you to listen, feel, and fill in the silence.
-
Memory may fade, but its essence continues to linger – within us, and in those we hold close.
This storytelling session offers a tender narrative of dementia through the lens of a child, reinterpreting a path of change as a space for understanding and connection.
-
Misconceptions often take form as quiet assumptions and persistent stereotypes.
This nook invites you to look beyond the labels, see the person within, and honour the memories that shape us all. Through film, we begin to reshape understanding – with empathy, not assumption.
